Is an account on LolSnaps required?
No. You can enjoy the same basic functionality we’ve always had on LolSnaps without setting up an account. However, there are a lot of exceptional NEW features which require an account. These include Fake Internet Points (FIP), Personal Messaging (PM), and following favorite users. Also, you must now have an account in order to upload or post images. We believe setting up an account provides you with a way to personalize and enhance your LolSnaps experience.
How do I set up an account on LolSnaps?
Both the desktop and mobile sites have a generic user button in the menu section that looks like this –> . The process allows you to login with a social network authorization (i.e., Facebook or Twitter) or you can sign up with an email address. If you choose the latter, an email from LolSnaps will be sent to your inbox requesting confirmation of the account set up. Be sure to check your spam folder in case the email is delivered there. Once you confirm your email, you’ll be asked to choose a username. Then, you’re gold! You can update, change your password, and modify your profile in Account Settings.
Can I change my username?
No, so choose wisely.
What if I forget my password?
When you are asked to login, there is an option which asks, “Forgot password?” You will be sent an email (check your spam folder if the email does not arrive quickly) providing you a link to reset your password.
How do I change my email address or password?
Once logged in, you can click on the user avatar in the menu section. This will take you to the member section where you can make changes to your account, password, or your profile. Click on the “Save Changes” button and you’re done.
What are you going to do with the email address I submitted to set up an account on LolSnaps?
Your email will be closely guarded and only used to communicate with you about changes to LolSnaps.com or to announce important news about the site. We do not and will not sell or rent your email to anyone for any reason. For additional information, please see our Terms.
How do I post/upload to LolSnaps.com?
You’ll need to create an account to upload posts. Once you’ve done that, select “Upload” in the menu section and follow the instructions on screen. It’s that easy. You can post directly from your computer or phone or copy a URL which ends with a file name of JPEG, JPG, PNG or GIF. GIF files are automatically converted to the MP4 format and can take several seconds to convert, so be patient. You can also paste Youtube and Vimeo URLs.
What happens to my post after I upload it?
All user posts are moderated and approved or disapproved by admins. Once approved, it is posted to the front page of the site. From there, may god (and the rest of the community) have mercy on your soul. It will be voted upon and you will either be deemed worthy… or not. User who post funny snaps will EARN A PLACE NEXT TO ME IN VALHALLA! (I’m serious).
If my post is disapproved, will I be notified?
Yes. An admin will send you a message with the reason it was not approved. You may find our reason for disapproval unsatisfying, but it generally comes under 3 categories: 1. Your post is a recent repost, 2. Your post isn’t funny in our opinion, and 3. Your post does not meet our guidelines. If your post is clearly outside our posting guidelines, you will no longer be able to use the upload function.
Can I edit my post after it is approved?
Yes. When you view your post there will be a small “Edit the Post” button below the image which only you can view. Click on that button and edit virtually everything about the post and then be sure to save your edits.
Will my posts always be subject to moderator approval?
No. Once a user/member posts consistently strong content as measured by reaching the homepage, the user will be notified that their future uploads will be automatically posted without moderator approval. Right now, this user designation is granted subjectively by an admin.
How do I delete a post I made on LolSnaps?
Only admins can delete a post. Contact us here to request we delete the post.
How do I delete my account?
For security reasons, an admin is the only person who can delete user accounts. Please contact us here to have your account deleted. We hope to build the function for any registered user to delete their account without admin intervention.
If I find a particular post offensive, can an Admin remove it?
LolSnaps has users from varied backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures, who differ in their views about what is considered offensive and acceptable. We recognize that with such global diversity there will be differences about what is considered offensive and that someone somewhere in the world may be offended by the opinions, perspectives and creative expressions of some of our users. We ask that all users respect each others’ right to express themselves in a manner consistent with our Terms. If you feel that a particular post violates our Terms, please do not hesitate to contact us with your concerns.
Will admins continue to post pictures and curate content?
Yes. Over the years, we believe we’ve been able to post pictures the community generally finds funny, amusing, inspiring, or weird. We’ve also uploaded our fair share of boners (not literally, mind you). In this way, LolSnaps has been molded and shaped around humor we enjoy and continue to hope the community will also enjoy.
What value does the community place on Original Content (OC) versus reposting content found elsewhere on the Internet?
Since our beginning in April 2010, LolSnaps has always positioned itself as a content aggregator. That is why our tagline has always been, “Constant updates of the best funny pictures on the web.” Our goal has been to bring the best of the internet onto one site. As more and more people around the world have gained access to the internet and as funny picture and meme websites have greatly expanded, that aspirational goal seems almost impossible. Plus, what we find funny may not even emote a smile from many of our visitors. Still, we remain committed to our mission to bring the best of the internet to the LolSnaps community. Sometimes, that means a user will post an original creation… but most of the time, that means posting a picture, video, or meme found elsewhere on the internet. Our community values the post that makes them chuckle, smile, or even laugh out loud. That can be Original Content or reposted from another website.
Does LolSnaps have guidelines for those who upload pictures?
These are the guidelines we have had for the past several years and they continue to be as relevant as ever:
- Post pictures that you believe will make others laugh. That doesn’t include Facebook profile pictures or pictures of your baby sucking her thumb.
- LolSnaps is a place to get some laughs. We are not a porn site, so don’t post pictures of nipples, vaginas, or penis parts. If you would hesitate showing your picture to your parents or co-workers, it’s not a good idea to put it on this website.
- Create a caption that is funny and descriptive. Don’t use lame captions like “LMAO”, “Hahahaha!” or “Cool!”
- The use of vulgarity is okay…in moderation. Don’t overdo a good thing. When in doubt—especially on captions—use replacement parts such as f*ck and sh*t.
- Your picture will be seen by thousands of people all over the world. You should not post pictures where the entire world can see someone’s identity. This includes information such as email addresses, full names, and Facebook identities.
- Do everyone a favor and make your punctuation, spelling and grammar count. It matters!
- There is a band of rabid LolSnaps fans who have seen every picture on this website. They do not appreciate a picture that has appeared on the website in the recent past—a repost. When this occurs, they show no mercy.
- If you found the funny picture on another website, list that website as the source.
- LolSnaps reserves the right to remove any picture or post it deems inappropriate and abusive.
- Please read our Terms and Privacy Policy before you post.
Is there a quicker way to see more content and browse LolSnaps?
There are two functions which allow you to make the browsing experience faster. The first impacts Desktop users only and is referred to as ‘Hotkeys’. These are keyboard shortcuts that are simple to use so you can bypass use of your computer mouse. To upvote, press the ‘U’ key and to downvote a post, press the ‘D’ button. To see the PREVIOUS or NEXT post, use the arrow keys. Finally, to browse through the site in RANDOM mode, click the ‘R’ key. The second way to speed up your browsing experience is the introduction to multi-snap pageviews. This occurs on our here and preloads 10 snaps for the user to view.
What are ‘Fake Internet Points (FIP)’?
You receive Fake Internet Points (FIP) when you engage in a number of behaviors including uploading pictures, viewing pictures, voting on pictures, and receiving votes on the pictures you upload. A high amount of FIP on your user profile (in most cases) tells other users that you are a valued contributor to LolSnaps. A negative amount of FIP on your user profile (in most cases) tells other users that your contributions are not appreciated. All new users begin with 0 Fake Internet Points. Your FIP total is displayed on your user profile page.

How do I report a bug?
A bug is an error, flaw, failure, or fault on LolSnaps that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways. Reporting a bug to us is critical in order to improve the user experience. When you contact us, it would be very helpful to document exactly what happened, the steps we need to take to replicate the bug/problem, and what browser and operating system were you using when the bug occurred?
